“With an evening coat and a white tie,
as you told me once, anybody, even
a stock-broker, can gain a reputation
for being civilised"
—Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
I am a writer, lawyer, Classicist, aesthete, and alternatively a misanthrope and a bon vivant. On this site, you will find some information about me, as well as some of the projects I have worked on, both academic and not. It is meant to serve as a repository for the end-results, whatever they be, of some of the endeavours I have pursued in, inter alia, law, composition, translation, criticism, and 19th century English shotgun trunk case restorations.
This is my website, so it observes my rules. You can probably intuit them from the sorts of things you find here. Most of them are consonant with the ideas of liberalism, pluralism, free speech, the power of rational law, artistic license and experimentation, the virtue of honest folly, and the fundamental dignity of the individual. Here, we reject collectivism, orthodoxy prescribed by authority, alternative facts, critical [race/gender/etc.] theory, censorship of all kinds, and chosen ignorance.
